Jaguar Land Rover has introduced their new Virtual Windscreen system that promises to improve driving experience, not only on the road but also on the track. The system turns the entire windscreen into a huge display by projecting images onto it to highlight hazards, the speed limit and navigation information.
The video by Jaguar shows how the system could have track-oriented display to show a variety of things which include, a ghost car of your car or another car from a previous lap, virtual cones for driver training, virtual racing lines to show you where to drive and when to brake.
There are a host of other systems that the company is developing, including a 3D instrument cluster, virtual rearview mirrors and a gesture control system. Dr Wolfgang Epple, Director of Research and Technology, Jaguar Land Rover, said, "We are working on research projects that will give the driver better information to enhance the driving experience."
